Acceptable Portages at the “43” Cut and 3:00 Cut Areas

In attempt to alleviate some of the confusion and answer questions sent to the Texas Water Safari Board of Directors the following illustrations offered.  These are not intended to be exhaustive of the possibilities but should serve to illustrate the options available to teams. The imagery depicted may not be an exact representation of current conditions.

Remember; for a cut to be legal there must be a flow of water through it.  This information is only for the area below the UPRR Railroad Track below Dupont and above Saltwater Barrier.

“43” Cut

Teams may Exit at the Log Jam and portage into the “43” Cut or enter the mouth of the cut and portage the jams within the cut. This description is for illustrative purposes. The portages shown are approximate and may not be the best or only route.

43-cut

3:00 Cut

After portaging the log jam(s) teams may elect to portage into the 3:00 Cut. This description is for illustrative purposes. The portage shown is approximate and may not be the best or only route.

300-cut

The Grande Portage

Teams may elect to portage all of the log jams in a single portage as illustrated here. Teams may also elect to portage and re-enter the water after each jam. This description is for illustrative purposes. The actual portage and log jam locations are approximated.
